LSEG Debuts Blockchain Infrastructure for Private Funds with Microsoft-Backed Platform
The London Stock Exchange Group has marked a significant milestone in the convergence of traditional finance and blockchain technology. Its newly launched Digital Markets Infrastructure (DMI), developed in collaboration with Microsoft, completed its first tokenized fundraising transaction. The platform leverages Microsoft's Azure cloud service to offer end-to-end blockchain solutions—issuance, tokenization, and settlement—for private markets.
"There are many processes in private markets today that can be improved," said Dr. Darko Hajdukovic, Head of DMI at LSEG. The initiative aims to enhance accessibility, streamline workflows, and unlock liquidity in a sector historically plagued by inefficiencies. Investment manager MembersCap became the first adopter, utilizing DMI to raise capital for its MCM Fund 1.
While the platform shares underlying technology with cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, its focus remains squarely on institutional financial applications. This MOVE signals growing institutional confidence in blockchain's potential to reshape capital markets beyond speculative assets.
